Oak Island Tourism Society
Oak Island Tourism Society logoOak Island Treasure has worked closely with the Oak Island Tourism Society (OITS) to promote Oak Island as a fascinating heritage site.

In November 2009, the Oak Island Tourism Society announced that they had taken the decision to close down. The reasons given for this were as follows:

* Lack of clear direction from majority land owners and treasure hunters Oak Island Tours Inc. on whether or not we stand any reasonable chance at fulfilling our full mandate.

* We are unable to secure a fixed date for Explore Oak Island Days each year at a facility we feel fits the character, progress and development of the event which has grown each year.

This is indeed a shame, as many of the members of this group will have attended the annual event which has provided a great opportunity for us to learn more about Oak Island, and meet other enthusiasts from all over the world.

Events

The OITS held the annual Explore Oak Island Days which is a fascinating celebration of the Oak Island mystery. Each year, this provided the opportunity for the general public to meet people involved in past excavations, view artefacts recovered from various pits, see the famed video footage from inside famous Borehole 10X pit and most importantly, actually enjoy a tour of the island, with kind permission of landowners and treasure hunters.

The weekend also provided the opportunity for many of our forum members and followers from the Facebook group to meet one another face to face over a beer in The Black Pearl on Western Shore.
