Welcome the January edition of the Oak Island Treasure Newsletter and very happy New Year! We bring you news of exclusive new material added to Oak Island Treasure and details of the forthcoming Explore Oak Island days. Oak Island Treasure ArchiveDuring 2007, we established the Oak Island Treasure online archive - a growing collection of key documents and images relating to the Oak Island mystery. As part of an ongoing project to digitise Oak Island material to get it online for you all to enjoy, (and also protect it from inevitable deterioration), we bring you an amazing selection of material. Highlights of this new content include: - a growing collection of photographs from author D'Arcy O'Connor's research: - the 1969 carbon dating report of a smaple of wood from the dig site: - images of the infamous Borehole 10X video: - photos taken the day Dan Blankenship was lowered down into Borehole 10X in 1976: Never before has there been such an ambitious undertaking to display this huge repository of historical documents and primary sources online, and we are most grateful to D'Arcy for kindly sharing this material. This is part of Oak Island Treasure's long digitisation project bringing many photos and documents into the public domain for the first time and we hope you enjoy it. Explore Oak Island Days - draft agenda announcedOn 20-22 June, Western Shore will once again play host to the Oak Island Tourism Society's annual Explore Oak Island Days. Normally closed to the public, this is the only opportunity you have to actually set foot on the island and hopefully see signs of the new excavations. The agenda, although tentative at this stage, is shaping up as follows: http://www.oakislandtreasure.co.uk/content/view/135/128/ We are always interested in hearing from you - whether this may be your own theories on the mystery or feedback on the site, we welcome any comments you may have. Thank you for your continued support and interest in the Oak Island mystery. Kind regards, Jo AthertonWebsite Manager |
