Oak Island and tourism - a brief history PDF Print E-mail

Oak Island has not always been closed to the public. It used to be a popular tourist attraction where throughout the summer, people could walk around the island, ask tour guides questions and at one stage, even participate in a treasure hunt on the beach.

The following materials come from that time when the island was open to the public. Download the entire tour booklet, information leaflet and authentic tickets

These days, Oak Island is closed to public access, but thanks to the work of the Oak Island Tourism Society with the kind permission of the Oak Island owners, the island plays host to the annual Explore Oak Island Days, a weekend of tours, speakers, exhibitions and plenty of fun. Find out about the next event.
