It's been worth the wait. I'd like to hand you over now to Carl Sayer who will take you through the day's events...
The third annual Oak Island Treasure London meeting took place in the “Captain Kidd” pub, Wapping on Saturday the 9th of August 2008. And what an afternoon it was!
After a pint of Samuel Smiths old ale and with a lager for the Canadian, the four assembled treasure seekers discussed the possibility that Captain Kidd was the man behind the treasure. After all we were in his pub on the banks of an ancient river and we had a full English pint inside us.

On 23rd May in AD 1701 Captain Kidd was executed on the site of the Captain Kidd pub and his last act was to write a number on a small scrap of paper which he handed to his wife. That number was not 11 or 1066, but was 44106818. So what did it mean?
"Another pint landlord!" went out the cry and with 3 pints ordered and with a diet cola for the Canadian a number of heated discussions commenced regarding what was buried in the money pit.

Another pint was needed and 3 more beers were ordered with a lime and soda ordered for the Canadian member, Kyle.
At 3.00 pm Jo went to the toilet looking for further clues leaving a tri-brethren, a cartographer, a minister and a young geographer.

Still seated, it dawned on us…what had we all seen in the men’s toilets earlier? All of us had noticed it.
Was it the different patterning or a slightly different colour at one part of the floor…?
Having returned from visiting some of the ancient monuments of Britain (Stone Henge, Avebury, Glastonbury Tor, Hampstead Heath, Bodham, bus shelter etc.), Kyle had seen it all, but nothing had seemed so stark and obvious…something must be down there. Could it be Kidd himself? Or the landlord’s first wife? Or maybe a clue, as yet unfound, that might reveal the significance of Kidd’s number thus revealing the secrets of oak island.
"Pete the Map" (Cartographer and philosopher) decided to stare the landlord in the face, 3 beers please and a pineapple juice (for the Canadian) he said and looking into the landlords eyes he was fairy sure that the proprietor was not capable of murder.
Only one more possibility he thought, the secret behind the oakisland treaure lies in the toilets of an east end pub.
Jo retuned from the toilet and found three excited souls ready to dig , but then we were all kicked out!
Well, lets resume things at next years event…we were so close to something…`
