Last years' event was a tremendous success, drawing people from all over the world, all keen to set foot on Oak Island and partcipate in the annual Explore Oak Island Days festival.

The Oak Island Tourism Society have announced the dates for the 2009 Explore Oak Island Days as 19 - 21 June. The next annual event promises to be the best yet with many new ideas currently in the planning stages.

Danny Hennigar of the Oak Island Tourism Society was pleased to report that during the 2008 event 'in the weeks leading up to EOID and the event itself, we hosted in excess of 800 visitors that included the school tours, members only tour, regular tours, and special visitors.'

People journied to Oak Island from as far away as the USA, Iceland, Scotland and including me from England. It is amazing to think that one small island in Nova Scotia has drawn people from across the world, all eager to see the hole in the ground which has been attracting treasure hunters for centuries.
